Spotlight Award Winner: Joan Batton

Joan E. Batton

Graduate of USHS in 1981. She was a dental assistant for Dr. Stanley Kear in Upper Sandusky for 28 years before going full time as office manager, Brad’s right hand, in 2003 at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home. She enjoys, maybe not the correct word, helping families through a very difficult time, whether with her beautiful smile and kind words or her delicious cookies.
She and Brad, who will be celebrating their 29th anniversary on April 29th, have two children. Healy, 25, is a Dr. of Physical Therapy in Cincinnati and Ian, 23, is a sales representative for Milwaukee Tools in Michigan. She loves tending to her kids’ needs, even today. She is at her best when they come home on weekends. She is nothing but smiles when the family is together.
Joan believes in exercise as a way to keep her sanity. Back in the 80’s Joan was an instructor for Sue Wentling Aerobics classes in Upper Sandusky. She has also enjoyed Zumba and any other fitness classes over the years. She loves to walk, as everyone in Carey has witnessed over the years. She is a faithful member of Champs In Motion anytime fitness center.
Joan enjoys the beach, especially in the Caribbean. For relaxation, she and Brad have enjoyed traveling to various location in the Caribbean during the winter. She loves sitting by the pool or on the beach with an umbrella drink at her side. Joan also enjoys day trips with Brad to see the kids or shopping in Columbus or Toledo and maybe even hitting an establishment with games of chance available.
